For all disciplines
Unsportsmanlike behaviour Red Card
Littering outside the aid station area Red Card
Headphones and music players Red Card
Failing to follow the correct route Red Card
Not stopping at penalty box Red Card
Urinating outside toilets Yellow Card
Upper body must be covered during the bike & run Yellow Card
For swim
Athletes must wear the cap provided by the race. Red Card
Athletes must wear a wetsuit that meets WTC guidelines Red Card
No fins, gloves, paddles or flotation devices of any kind are allowed. Red Card
Note: Aqua socks (neoprene booties) may be worn if the water temperature is 18.8C or below, but are prohibited in water temperature greater than this.
Cut off swim course: 1 hour 10 minutes after last start Red Card
For bike course
Drafting: you must keep a 10m gap to the bike in front except when overtaking and this must be completed within 15 seconds. Black Card
Blocking – Athletes must ride single file on the left side of the road near the verge except when passing another cyclist. Side-by-side riding is not allowed. Yellow Card
Outside assistance Yellow Card
Not wearing a helmet Red Card
Chin strap of helmet undone Yellow Card
Bib number not displayed correctly to back Yellow Card
Dangerous overtaking manoeuvre Black Card
Cut off bike course: 5hrs 30mins after last start Red Card
For run course
Being accompanied on run. Warning first, then Red Card
Outside assistance on run warning first, then Red Card
Cut off finish line: 16:30 hours (8 1/2 hours after last start) Red Card

Teams
The general and event specific rules apply to teams.  Additionally:
Teams will start along with individual participants in the last wave
The changeover between swimmer and cyclist, cyclist and runner must take place at the racking point only and is achieved by passing the timing chip to the next person.
If relay teams attempt to change over at any other point or try to assist each other the team will be disqualified. Red Card
It is the team member’s responsibility to be waiting at the transition racking point in good time.
If a team member fails to meet the cut off time specified, the next athlete will be able to start their leg of the race with a new timing chip collected at the bike or run exit.
Teams are not eligible for qualification to the World Championships.
Penalties
Yellow = Stop and go
2 yellow cards means a black card = 4 minutes time penalty
Black = 4 minutes time penalty in the penalty box
1 red card = disqualification
2 black cards = disqualification
3 cards of any combination = disqualification
